Dear Rover Ranch And Spa,
I adopted Hershey, an adorable 1
year old cockapoo, in July from a local shelter. I wastold
that Hershey had been returned to a breeder and just needed a lot
of love. Having a lot of love to give I brought home
my new dog and was so excited to show him off to all my relatives
and friends. Within a few weeks it became very apparent that
my new little doggy had more problems than just needing
love.
Hershey was either badly abused or had no
socialization. He was terrified of everything. A loud
noise, a new person, or the presence of a box or newspaper sent
Hershey into a panic attack. He wouldn't play with toys and
didn't respond to treats. He hated going outside for walks
because he was afraid of meeting a stranger. I saw a vet and
was told that he was in very good health and that this was just an
adjustment period. I had two different trainers come to my
home and they were unable to do anything at all with him because
he was just too terrified.
I was told that Hershey needed
to be socialized and began visiting with friends with dogs and
having play dates at my home. Again, there was nothing but
panic on his little face. I returned to the vet and we put
Hershey on anti-anxiety medication. This did little, except
make him more tired and lethargic.
Completely frustrated
and ready to return my new dog, I came upon an ad for Rover Ranch
and Spa. They had all types of services but most importantly
for me they had a doggy daycare, where I could drop Hershey off
and just let him try to socialize with other dogs. I visited
the Spa and was really impressed. Everyone, from the owners
to the people who worked there, were wonderful. The facilities
were unbelievably clean and were set up to meet any need a dog
owner might have.
I explained my situation and we decided
to give Hershey a try in daycare. The first time I brought
him there we all literally had to pull him in. He was truly
terrified. Within minutes, to my total amazement, my little
dog was running around with a bunch of the cutest dogs I had ever
seen. Upon returning home I began noticing little changes,
like he was willing to explore a little more and was actually
coming out to see who was sitting in another room. We have
been to daycare several times and each time he seems to be getting
a little more comfortable. Although, we still have a long
way to go, I at least have some hope for Hershey.
I don't know how to thank Rover
Ranch and Spa for their patience, with me and Hershey, and their
understanding. They have been so wonderful in trying to work
with me to help my dog. I look forward to many more happy
days for Hershey in doggy daycare and would even feel comfortable
boarding him for a few days if I wanted to get away. I know
that he would be in excellent hands and extremely well cared
for.
Again, thank you so much for all you have done for
us.
Truly, Michele Vogel

To Everyone at Rover Ranch,
A very special thank you for taking such special
care of our precious little boy, Mick. We were very
concerned about leaving him for 10 days, but we could see when we
picked him up that we had made the right choice. It is very
obvious that you care a great deal for your customers and their
“humans”. We wish you every success and you definitely have
us as customers for life!
Sincerely, Lynda & Jack DeRosa

To Everyone at Rover Ranch,
I sincerely want to thank you for the wonderful
care you took of Bellamae while we were away. A week seems
so long to leave your pet but she didn’t seem to think so at
all! She returned tired, happy and smelling terrific.
